About Kelowna and education there

Kelowna is the province's third-largest metropolitan area (after Vancouver and Victoria), its seventh-largest city.

Kelowna is a city on Okanagan Lake in the Okanagan Valley in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. Kelowna means grizzly bear.

Kelowna is classified as a humid continental climate or an inland oceanic climate per the Köppen climate classification system. Its coldest month has an average temperature slightly above −3.0 °C and below 0 °C, with dry, hot, sunny summers and cool, cloudy winters and four seasons.

Father Charles Pandosy founded the first European settlement in the Kelowna area in 1859. He founded the Okanagan Mission and set up a church and school. He was a farmer as a missionary, though, and the mission became known for its farm animals and crops. Today the Father Pandosy Mission is a B.C.

Heritage Site jointly administered by the Okanagan Historical Society and the Catholic Church and open to the public.

School District 23 Central Okanagan is a school district in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. It includes Kelowna, West Kelowna, and the District Municipalities of Lake Country and Peachland and is the 5th largest district in B.C.
